Fantastic beers. Great staff. Worth the trip up 61. Plenty of parking. Cheese bread hit the spot with their fresh bread.

A decent choice for a brew in Red Wing. I'm an IPA guy, and the Jordan Creek was good but hoppier would make me happier. The servers were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and we enjoyed our hour spent here.

This Hoppy Girl has had the pleasure of visiting Red Wing Brewery twice so far and each visit has been wonderful. The pizzas are amazing and I love that they are using their spent grains left over from brewing in the dough. This is something I love doing with my homebrew spent grains too. The staff is very pleasant and one or both of the owner's have always been there, which I think is key in smaller brewery's that serve food. I look forward to the day, they come visit me in Wabasha, MN, when I open up Hoppy Girl Brewing Co. I feel the more great nano brewery, micro brewery, brewing companies, brewpubs in the Southeastern Minnesota area the better. Cheers and I look forward to my next visit.

We have an unfortunate problem here in Minnesota; we are flush with fantastic local micro breweries. Red Wing Brewery is another one of many. Before we go any further I want to disclose that I am a beer snob. Not --however-- a beer asshole. I know the process. I know the flavor profiles and styles. I appreciate the process and respect creativity. I know and love beer! The Beer: RWB serves 4oz flights how ever you want them. Thus is great for someone who wants to try a couple beers but is not interested in trying EVERYTHING. You are free to order, mix, and match as you please. I had the Hefeweizen, the IPA, and the Porter. Each beer was very tasty. The porter and the IPA are more aligned with English style beers that feature a more complex malt profile than hoppy Amrecian craft brews. The IPA was bitter, but not nuanced in the hop flavor other than that. You can argue about the difference in a Porter and a Stout. This Porter leaned closer to a stout flavor which featured roasted barely. Still, a fine beer. I was most satisfied with the Hefe. Most likely because I had just spent a couple hours hiking in the warm sun at Frontenac State Park. This beer is a beautiful example of the style and very approachable for folk who don't care for Hoppy, BIG beers. Wonderful balance of banana and clove flavor too. The Food (pizza): Come for the beer, stay for the pizza. Or just come for the pizza! I have not had a pizza this good, this satisfying, this memorable since being in Little Italy in NYC. Everything was perfect. The crust was crispy but chewy. The meat was fresh, evenly cooked, and not overly seasoned. And the cheese was the perfect kind of savory that brings it all together. The manager informed me that they get the crust from a local bread shop and they took some time to perfect the recipe to make the perfect pan pizza crust. They also get the cheese from a local farm so that it is fresh and made with the best stuff possible. This pizza is truly artisan. Bravo! So glad I took a day trip to Red Wing. The drive from the twin cities is easy and very worth it!

Really enjoyed this brewery after hiking barn bluff we needed to carbo load again. Ordered a personal meat lovers pizza, and a calzone made with green peppers, mushroom, and sausage. Considering we were at a brewery we ordered a few flights to try the most popular are listed on their chalk board by the bar. Premium, and ski jump was my favorites. Fast friendly service and awesome pizza! The crust was crunchy on the outside while the inside was doughy perfectly cooked. Will def be coming back to try more!

Stopped for lunch and a pint on a beautiful summer day. Both were great and we will return next time we are in the area.

As an out-of-towner, my local coworkers took me to Red Wing Brewery to try their town-famous microbrews. Walking in, you seat yourself at low tables in semi-bright lighting that reminds me of a mall food court. There are windows into the brewing area, which is sorta neat - I'm sure it's better when people are in there actually working on the beers. The waitress brought us a 10x14in beer list (double sided!), and we read all of the choices and their paragraph tasting notes, only to find out that the list is apparently some kind of historical exploration. The actual beer list was just written on a chalkboard above the bar, with no explanations available. Our waitress said she had never tried any of the beers and said she didn't know anything about any of them. I ended up ordering a pint of Red Wing Premium, their house lager. It had a very mild taste, nothing notable. If you normally order a Bud or a Miller, this will be right in line with your tastes. It was fine, but I would order something more distinctive next time. The waitress was very attentive but seemed irritated that we were drinking and not ordering food. She asked if we needed anything else twice in 15 minutes, and then just brought the check before we were finished with our first round. We were there less than 30 minutes because she brought the check, so we left instead of ordering more.

This is now one of my favorite pizza places. A lot of their pizza uses white sauce instead of red, so if you're not a huge fan sauce on your pizza like me, you'll love it. We had the meat lovers, which has white sauce and I thought it was amazing. Now on to the brewery sticks, they are seasoned slices of pizza dough that come with sauce to dip. I was not impressed. There were a couple good pieces but most of them were paper thin and a little too crispy. I would definitely skip them next time I go. There are many different kinds of craft bears too, so if you're a beer enthusiast it's a great place to go. You can even get a growler (big jug) to go of your favorite craft beer. It's a very casual place where you seat yourself. There were so many people helping us I'm not quite sure who was our server and where the tip was going. But all in all a pretty great pizza place with interesting craft beers.

Hey there red wing brewery- you lured me in with the promise of good pizza and rootbeer on tap and then you fed me subpar pies with really bad service.

Just tried the take-out specialty pizza with corned beef and sauerkraut. Ladies ordered for a work gathering. WOWZAH!! My taste buds were tantalizingly shocked! I would have never ordered and this was mouth-watering good, Crazy good! Lots of variety if you like the strange and disturbing bizarre pizza. If you want the boring regular stuff, it's also good. Still, you should treat yourself to something you won't get anywhere else.

We were in serious need of a day trip to get away from the city hustle and bustle. We were greeted with our desire for a day of outdoor adventure in Red Wing with wet skies. Option 2, find indoor entertainment. As brewery lovers we were naturally drawn to the Red Wing Brewery. And may I say, thank goodness for our natural instincts. Beers: 9 different RWB beers on tap with additional old school Red Wing and Minnesota delights. For the kids or non-alcoholic lovers, they offer their very own sweet, tasty root beer. Rating - 3.5 out of 5. Flavorful, but no Dangerous Man. Food: The pizza was the true highlight. I would go back just for that. It's a bit pricey, but they load the toppings so it makes up for the dip in the wallet. The crust and sauce are laced with a sugary addiction that pairs perfectly with the salty, fresh cheese and locally crafted pepperoni. If you live within an hour drive it's worth the trip. You can work off the carb coma by walking the river, hiking up Memorial Park or cruising down Main Street.

Disappointing pizza. Not good. We were out to dinner in Red Wing, and wanted to try this place after it got such rave reviews. The service was very good, attentive but not pushy. The waitress humoured me as I sampled a local red wine (horrible), then one of their craft brews (Red Wing "Premium"-- aweful), then another brew, Remler's, which was quite good. On to the food. We had high hopes for the pizza, based on previous reviews, with comments like, "The best I ever had" and "Rivals anything in the Twin Cities." NOT TRUE. The crust was more like bread, too thick around the edges, and soggy in the middle. But the worst part was the sauce, which was truly horrible. It way WAY too sweet, and lacked any depth of flavor. They would have been better off opening a can of Ragu pizza sauce. Apparently they make the pizza sauce in-house, which, to me, is even more damning: surely they can beg, borrow, or steal a decent pizza sauce recipe. C'mon guys, do us all a favor: spring for a few hundred bucks and fly your chef to New Haven, let him try the pizza and talk to a few pizza chefs, and then come back to Red Wing with a respectable recipe. I would definitely go back to Red Wing Brewery for the beer, but I'd probably save room for dinner elsewhere-- at least until someone tells me that the management has decided to take their food as seriously as they take their beer.

With the kids and wife waiting in car, I decided to jump in the brewery and grab a growler for the road. So this is my temporary review, until I can get around to tasting some food and more brews that they make. From my breif experience the service was good and knowledgeable about the brews. The taproom was nice and quaint. I ordered a scottish ale growler and loved it. I can't wait to get back there.

Good pizza and good BEEERR!!! I had last barrow of the seasonal Scotch Ale(?) for $5! it was so tasty... I wish I had time to try all!

I can't speak to the food (though people rave about the pizzas!) but the beers were super solid. My husband and I built a flight, with each 4 ounce glass priced at $2.50. Not too shabby! I loved that they only have one IPA on tap. I know, call me crazy. We had 4 tasty, old-school, malty beers. Yum. The Royal Brew is like a 100 year old recipe, and its so good. Good service, staff was knowledgeable, but just a note-the place is pretty small!

We went for the beer and was very impressed by the pizza. I ordered the personal meat lovers pizza with red sauce and my husband got the spicy italian. They were both amazing! I loved the crust and the pizza sauce. The beer was good, we tried all of them and our favorites were the porter and the red. They also have a good selection of guest beers on tap.

An excellent brewpub! The owner/acting host was very inviting, informative and accommodating. Great beer knowledge and liberal with his time, it's obvious he cares about his guests. I was surprised to see Jeff Moriarty from Tin Whiskers here. He was apparently dropping off his Pumpkin Ale for Red Wing Brewery's guest star line. Beers: Barn Bluff Brown Quality: Excellent Review: Slightly creamy body with a sweet, chewy caramel finish. Stoneware Stout Quality: Excellent Review: Classic stout, and a very good one at that. Rich, full body. Lots of roasted flavors. A nice level of complexity. I wish I could show this stout to all my friends and say, now THAT'S what a stout should be like! Cokins Bavarian Style Quality: Good Review: This seasonal brew is a fun take on an Oktoberfest. Instead of being a Märzen-style lager, this is brewed as an ale. Obvious residual sugars from not fully fermented malts gives this brew a sweet, honey liquor finish. A really neat idea, but just a little too syrupy. Hard to finish an entire pint because of this so share with your sweetheart. Cut back a little bit of the sweetness for a more balanced finished and this would be an unquestionably excellent, if not outright phenomenal brew. Overall: If you ever find yourself in the way of Red Wing, MN, make this brewpub a must stop location.

My wife and I stopped in over 4th of July weekend. I just happened to notice it as we drove by to the pottery place as I had not heard anything about it previously. We had not been to Red Wing in several years, so we were excited to see a new establishment, especially a brewery and tap room! We sidled up to the bar and were greeted by a friendly gal tending the taps. She offered samples as we were both kinda wishy washy about what we wanted to try; first sample was the Remmler Royal. Not my style, so I decided to just live a little and go with a pint of the Jordan Creek IPA--definitely a great choice! The wife had had a couple glasses of wine prior to our visit and opted instead for a hard cider: Maiden Rock honeycrisp from a nearby Wisconsin winery. I took a sip of that as well and thought it was light and crisp and very tasty. I finished up the IPA and tried a pint of the RW Premium--a lighter variety for the driver. As I was curious about the other offerings on tap and wanted to take a growler home, I was given samples of the red ale, porter, and stout. I liked the stout best of all, though that can't be had in a growler. I will definitely order that as my first pint next time! We ended up heading home with a growler and a pint glass. Just something about that Red Wing logo that called to me to be added to my barware collection. Overall, a must stop. After reading the glowing reviews of the pizza, pints and pizza are tops on my list for next time we come to town for a visit.

Stopped into this Brewery while in Red Wing on a Christmas getaway. The visit was an absolute treat. Their Porter and Stout were top of the line. But what really surprised me was their pizzas! Those puppies were artisan quality, rivaling anything I get in the Twin Cities. Flavorful and tasty. And the service was stellar. What a wonderful business addition to a terrific city.

In the past while in Redwing I would stop at the Brick house for a beer,no longer. I saw an ad for Redwing brewing and needed to check it out. An easy walk from the St.James hotel about fifteen minutes. On entering, the place was packed, not even an empty barstool. Owner apologized for there being a fifteen minute wait.,he explained the beer menu and suggested a couple beers based on my tastes. I had their IPA and was very surprised...not overly bitter which is sometimes good, nice floral balance and minimal finish.I wasn't in the mood for pizza again so declined on eating. What I did see and smell were some wonderful combos. Decor is what you'd expect of a newly redone buis. A little on the flat side but given time it'll garner more character/characters. Very friendly staff, owners, good solid beer will have to go back especially after getting a couple free beer coins

Red Wing Brewery has awesome beer and pizza, we have tried the buffalo chicken and the meat lovers both super good. Nice location too!

Holy eff their pizza is good!! That crust!! I got the BBQ chicken and it made me so happy. I am ready to make the half hour trip to red wing just to get some more. On a side note I wasn't very excited about their beer selection, ended up getting a root beer on tap. Now when I order a root beer on tap I expect it to come out in a frosty mug- not in a plastic coke glass on ice yuck!! Minus one star for the lackluster drink selections (especially for a brewery) but my oh my that pizza!!!! You have to try it

high quality beer and food. The beer and other alcohol is reasonably priced, maybe even a little on the cheap side considering it's quality. The food is a bit on the more expensive side, but well worth it, made with quality ingredients. Never had a bad pizza or beer there.

It was so hard for me to find this little spot because the logo is the red wing shoes logo. I drove past it at least 3 times then finally saw it. Their cheeseburger pizza was amazing and the tator tot pizza was delicious too. Definitely give it a try. I have to go back to try their beers

The Red Wing Brewery is a true gem; we had wonderful experience! Among the pros: brews made in house and the opportunity to sample them all before you commit, homemade root beer (I'm not a fan of root beer on the whole, but almost became a convert today), tasty pizza (with a pleasantly sweet sauce that gives it a unique twist) and service that is classically "Minnesota nice". If we lived in town, we'd be here regularly! Luckily, my in-laws do, and I'm already looking forward to our next trip!

A brew pub that serves pizza. We had the "pizza of the month", this month pulled pork and cold slaw. The pizza was much better in the eating than it sounds. The cold slaw is added to the pizza after the pizza is cooked. They only have 8" or 16" sizes. It was over $20 for a large specially pizza. Of course at a brew pub it's is all about the beer. They have a nice selection of self-made brew and a few from other brewers. You can get a free taste before you but you pint. I found the stout to be very good and the porter is nice but would not have it again. This is a very clean and new looking pub. In the early evening it was a family oriented. I can not speak about later at night. I will eat here the next time I am in town.

Finally stopped in yesterday! Ordered a chicken quesadilla pizza...on a recommendation from a friend to get a pizza... It did not disappoint! I also tried a few of their house beers...skipped the IPA as I tend not to be a fan... The beers were good! I had the: Work Boot Red, Barn Bluff Brown, & Pepie's Porter. I probably liked the Porter the best. The two staff I chatted were super friendly and informative about beer. I liked this place....the people, the food and the beer! It's not ridiculously far from the cities that...I'm sure I will make my way down here again!... Thank you!

I stopped by on a recent Saturday to sample the beer and grab a bite to eat. Very convenient easy to find location just a block from Hwy. 61. Lots of free street parking right in front. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Head brewer was very willing to answer my questions and describe the beers and the history of the place. They have a nice variety of their own brewed beers. I sampled the following beers. All were good. But, if I had to rank them in order of preference and rate them on 1 (poor) - 5 (excellent) scale .... 5 - Jordan Creek IPA - Usually, I'm not a big IPA fan. But, this beer was fantastic - smooth/ tasty. 4 - Stoneware Stout 4 - Work Boot Red 3.5 - Barn Bluff Brown Another thing that caught my eye on the menu. They only sell wine from the local wineries, of which there are very good ones in this area. Love that! Support the locals. For the meal I tried the 8" Pizza w/ Ham, Crumbled Beef, Fresh Tomatoes, Jalapeños. They have handmade crust that uses their own brewing grains and is made by a nearby Red Wing bakery. In a word, "awesome". Really, really good. A little bit of sweetness in the crust. One of the best pizzas I've had. When I pass through this area again, I will definitely stop here again.

Love it here! Our favorite local spot for date night. With homemade root beer made with local ingredients and color books and crayons it's a good place to bring the kids too! Beer is excellent, my favorite is the Pepie's Porter! So happy they serve pizza now, build your own or specialty! If you are a Red Wing native and haven't stopped here, you are doing it wrong. If you are passing through the town make sure to visit here!

Excellent food and brews. The bartender allowed us to sample all of the Red Wing brews before we all settled on the Stout. We ordered the buffalo chicken pizza and the 16" inch pizza fed three of us (2 boys) easily. A must if you're in the area!

  • Norbert D.

The variety of pizza's is very nice and the crust made with spent brewers grain is the best tasting crust ever. The beer will suit any palette and each style from light to dark beer is crafted with exciting flavor not just a beer to fill a niche. The people make it a totally welcoming and informative experience.

The beer is wonderful. The staff and owners are friendly and passionate. The pizza is the best in town. We highly recommend the BBQ chicken pizza with the addition of jalapenos. We also love how they keep everything local, from using the local bakery to using Red Wing pottery mugs!

I'm so excited to see a brewery open in my hometown! I can imagine that once the good weather hits MN this spot will be well frequented by all the tourists in Red Wing meanwhile maintaining their local following. I'm pregnant so as yet haven't personally tried any of the brews, but we've been twice and my husband has more or less tried all of their recipes- save for the wheat beers since we're not much for that. I'm sure they're delicious to the right palate tho. I tried the Zimmie's Root Beer and while it wasn't my favorite flavor, it was very distinctive and definitely got points for being an original recipe. We ordered lunch on our last stop- soup for me (delish) and the mister had a pork sandwich (very good). The bread from Hanisch's is soft and delicious. I think we'll both opt for carrots in the future- kettle chips are always going to come in second when you really want fries. Regardless, this spot is worth your stop and you if you're not used to trying new things, they have other more familiar brews on tap. The decor is fun- we're hoping maybe in the future they'll add a flat screen or two... Sunday afternoons are a tough sell this time of year if you can't have the football game within sight. I love seeing the brewery through the window and of course the old photos of Pretty Red Wing. I am certain this start-up is going to prosper and would encourage everyone to stop in!
